Date And Walnut Bread
Ingredients:
8 oz self-raising flour
1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
1 oz butter
2 oz sugar
1/4 pint water
1 egg
4 oz chopped walnuts
12 oz chopped dates
Method:
Sieve all dry ingredients.
Put the sugar, butter and dates into a basin.
Boil the water and pour over these.
Leave and allow to cool.
Stir in flour, egg and nuts.
Put into an 8 inch greased cake tin or small loaf tin and bake approximately 50 minutes in centre of moderate oven.
